Practical Module

The practical module is designed to provide an in-depth exploration of issues related to diversity, equality, anti-discrimination, inclusion, and social inequality in specific areas of practice. You will complete a 100-hour internship at a partner institution. Accompanying reflection sessions support your personal and professional engagement with your experiences.

A field placement can be completed, for example, at NGOs, educational or cultural institutions, social service organizations, local government agencies, associations, initiatives, or other projects related to gender or diversity. Volunteer work may also be credited toward the requirement. Since the certificate is a voluntary, supplementary program, the practical placement cannot be classified as a mandatory internship.

Structure of the Practical Module

  1. You are participating in the "Gender Knowledge in Practice" workshop at Ruhr University Bochum (Next date: February 8, 2027, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., GD GD 03/141; please register by email).
  2. During a consultation meeting at the Equal Opportunities Office, you officially register for the practical placement. The learning objectives are defined and documented.
  3. You will complete 100 hours of practical training at a partner institution.
  4. You will write a reflection report (10–12 pages) on the practical placement, incorporating the content learned in Module 1.
  5. In addition, you will create a project of your choice ( presentation, poster, video, podcast, etc.), which you will present at a reflection session (date for the 26/27 winter semester to be announced).
