Once a year, the equal opportunity officers of the Ruhr University Alliance (TU Dortmund University, Ruhr University Bochum, and the University of Duisburg-Essen) jointly offer the workshop “Equal Opportunity Issues in Hiring Procedures.” Legal expert Dr. Juliane Lorenz provided participants with an understanding of the legal foundations of appointment procedures and raised awareness of gender equality issues in the process of selecting the best candidates.

Conducting appointment procedures requires a solid foundation of knowledge. The focus is on ensuring fair and legally sound procedures, while avoiding bias, assessment distortions, and other potential procedural errors in order to select the best candidates.

The online workshop provided a comprehensive overview of the most important legal frameworks governing appointment procedures, which are of central importance for implementing legally sound and equitable procedures at universities. During the workshop, participants had the opportunity to share experiences and engage in group discussions.

The speaker was attorney Dr.in Juliane Lorenz, a systemic coach, lawyer, and expert in gender equality law at universities.

The workshop is part of a continuing education program jointly designed and organized on a rotating basis by the central equal opportunity officers of the UA Ruhr universities (Ruhr University Bochum, University of Duisburg-Essen, TU Dortmund University).
