Dortmund needs the diversity of women in politics!

She for Democracy

A democracy needs women! Half of the political power should be in the hands of women; instead, there are often lone female fighters among a majority of men. We are a long way from having a diverse representation of women in German politics, as women are still underrepresented in political bodies. Whether in the Bundestag, state governments or city councils: Men occupy significantly more offices and decision-making positions at all levels.

With the She for Democracy program, the Equal Opportunities Office of TU Dortmund University, together with the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Dortmund and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, aims to motivate women with diverse experiences and backgrounds to get involved in local politics.

Over seven months, the participants get to know the political structures in Dortmund, talk to experienced women from Dortmund's political groups, network and strengthen their personal skills in workshops. They are encouraged to contribute their knowledge to Dortmund's local politics and play an active role in shaping the city's future.

You can find more information about the campaign on the website of the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Dortmund. If you have any questions about the project, you can also send us an e-mail.
