End of May

Diversity Day

Diversity Day was first organized in 2012 and has since been held annually in May as part of European Diversity Month.

The Charta der Vielfalt association (engl: Charter of Diversity) launched the German Diversity Day. The day of action takes place annually in Germany. It provides a space to engage intensively with the topic of diversity, to emphasize the importance of diversity with various activities and to make the commitment to an open and non-discriminatory working environment visible. The aim is to raise awareness towards diversity in the workplace, reduce prejudice and promote inclusive working environments.

Diversity Day at TU Dortmund University

Throughout the month of May, events are being held at TU Dortmund University that deal with various aspects of diversity and focus on the activities of diversity stakeholders on campus.

This year's keynote speech on Diversity Day will be given by Gilda Sahebi. The journalist, political scientist and doctor will speak on 27 May 2025 from 4 p.m. on the topic of ‘How hate speech endangers democracies and what we can do about it’. The event is open to all members of TU Dortmund University. In good weather, the event will take place in the green lecture hall at Martin-Schmeißer-Platz (diagonally opposite the Mathetower), in bad weather in lecture hall II at Emil-Figge-Str. 50. Please inform yourself in advance on the Website of Staff Unit Equal Opportunity, Family, Diversity or on Instagram. Registration is not necessary.

Members of TU Dortmund University still have the opportunity to visit the exhibition ‘Together against sexism’ in the foyer of the Faculty of Computer Science (Otto-Hahn-Str. 14) until 31 May. With this exhibition, the alliance ‘Together against sexism’ is helping to remove the taboos surrounding sexism and sexual harassment and make them accessible to a wide audience. The exhibition is available in German and also as a voice output via QR code. It can be visited during building opening hours.
