Frequently asked questions - FAQ
Here you will find questions and answers about the MinTU project. Do you have any other questions? Feel free to send us an e-mail.
Girls aged 12 to 13 can register for the project starting in autumn. Check our website regularly. You can fill out the registration form as soon as possible.
Good grades are not a prerequisite for joining MinTU. The most important thing is that you are open-minded. If you also enjoy math and science subjects and perhaps want to study them later, that's even better!
But of course! We can't promise that it will work out, but we look forward to receiving your application.
If more pupils apply than there are places available, a selection will be made according to age. Younger pupils then have the opportunity to apply again the following year.
The mentors are female STEM students. They have been studying at TU Dortmund University for at least one year and will pass on their knowledge about studying and day-to-day student life to you. They really enjoy sharing their experiences with you and the other girls.
Yes, you will be informed about the project during the information event. If you are not quite sure yet whether you would like to participate in MinTU, you can also read the information here on the homepage. If you have any specific questions, you can send them to the MinTU team via E-Mail. It is not an exclusion criterion in the selection process if you are unable to attend the information event.
That is not a problem. As soon as you know that you cannot attend, simply let the MinTU team know.
Usually, you will not be in a mentoring group with your friends. At MinTU, we make sure that the mentoring groups are diverse. But on the workshop days all participants come together. That's why it's not too bad if you're in different groups.
If you are unhappy with your group, you can talk to your mentor about it. Address problems openly. Together you will find a solution that makes both of you happy.
At least one week before a workshop day, you should submit an application for time off from class to your teacher. You will find the application form in your starter pack, which you received at the kick-off event. You can also download the application from the Download Center.
If you need a certificate for your school confirming that you attended the university on a workshop day, for example, you can write an email to Jill Timmreck or ask her on the workshop day.
At the end of your mentoring year, you will receive a certificate confirming your participation in the project.
Where the workshops take place depends on which faculties you will be visiting on the workshop day. Usually the workshops take place in the rooms of the faculties. You will find out when and where the workshop will take place by email well in advance. Otherwise you can always ask your mentor, who will also know.
That is not a problem. As soon as you know that you cannot attend, let both your mentor and the MinTU team know.
After workshops or events, TU Dortmund University reports on these events. The photos taken are used to document the project, for example on the TU Dortmund University homepage.
