Be and become a mentor
The mentors are female students from the STEM departments at TU Dortmund University. They have been studying for at least one year or are in their 3rd semester. The mentors are in regular contact with the students to give them an understanding of everyday student life. They share their experiences, thoughts and knowledge about studying and help the girls to find their interests and strengths.
The project process for mentors
The project starts in January with a training course that prepares you for your role as a mentor. There, the students also get to know the other mentors with whom they will work for a year.
The kick-off event follows in January, at which the mentors get to know the students, their mentoring group - consisting of four to six girls.
The mentors and their mentees attend the various STEM workshops in the departments of TU Dortmund University on a total of four days a year.
The mentoring meetings allow the students to get to know everyday university life and life as a student at TU Dortmund University. The mentors support the mentees in their STEM interests; at the same time, they expand their soft skills, i.e. social and communication skills such as teamwork, advisory skills and the ability to reflect. At the network meetings, all mentors come together and discuss their mentoring relationships with the students.
Further dates, e.g. for the workshops, will be announced in the course of the project.
