In December, the Equal Opportunities Office offered the job application training "From job search to job interview" as part of female.2.enterprises - an inspiring workshop that provided participants with valuable strategies for their career path. Led by trainer Ricarda Scharbert, the focus was on the question: How do I find the job that suits me?

Getting started: making contacts for success

Right at the beginning, Ricarda Scharbert emphasized the importance of networks. She made it clear that, in theory, it only takes seven contacts to network worldwide. Using vivid examples, she explained how even inconspicuous connections can ultimately lead to exciting opportunities, which may or may not lead to an ideal job.

Individual application tips and strategies

The workshop addressed the central topics of a successful application process. These included:

  • Modern CV: What information belongs in - and what doesn't?
  • Cover letter with impact: How do I arouse interest in my person?
  • Confident in the interview: tips for dealing with tricky questions in the interview.

Another focus was on discussing individual career paths and plans. The participants had the opportunity to put forward their questions and wishes. Topics such as the benefits of initial telephone contact and dealing withunconscious bias were covered in detail.

A complete application process to practise

Ricarda Scharbert led the group through a simulated application process that optimally prepared the participants for real-life situations. They left the workshop with practical exercises, honest feedback and a lot of confidence - equipped with helpful strategies and the motivation to go their own way.
