Butler, Butch, Beyoncé
The focus here is on young, vibrant and inspiring feminism!
The very title of the series opens up the entire spectrum of what is nowadays referred to as feminism and dealt with in the series - the topics range from gender issues in the wake of Judith Butler to identity-political questions of being a woman to what is often referred to as pop feminism.
Feminism is no longer just a political battle cry, but has arrived at the heart of society: More and more young women around the world are drawing attention to their convictions in the press, blogs, social media or at appearances, giving the time-honored term feminism new relevance. It is no longer just discourse, feminism can also be fun! Reason enough to take a closer look.
Butler, Butch, Beyoncé looks behind fashion and pop-cultural phenomena and brings together the protagonists of politically engaged, young feminism digitally - for readings, discussions and artistic positions: To shake the foundations of patriarchy with beats and arguments!
The cultural and discussion series on current feminist issues in science, art and culture, which was launched at Schauspiel Dortmund in 2019, became independent in summer 2020: Together with our cooperation partners Laura N. Junghanns and Dirk Baumann as well as the Equal Opportunities Offices of Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the City of Dortmund, we were at home online with Butler, Butch, Beyoncé from November 2020. In October 2021, the talk series moved to the Staatstheater Kassel and will take place there every two months live on site and virtually via stream.
