The second event of the "She for Democracy" campaign will take place on February 25. Interested women can still register.

On January 17, 2025, the "She for Democracy" campaign was successfully launched with a kick-off event at Dortmund City Hall. More than one hundred women took part in the event, demonstrating their interest in getting involved in democracy.

The second event will take place on February 25 from 18:00 to 20:00 (digital). The workshop "Local politics for beginners - have a say, help shape, make a difference" offers interested women the opportunity to get to know the basics of local politics and find out how to take their first steps into local politics. The workshop will be led by speaker Andrea Blome. Using many practical examples, she will show what goes on in the political committees, why they are so important for our city and what opportunities women have to really make a difference.

It is also possible to register for the second workshop without attending the kick-off event. All events can be attended independently of each other and are free of charge. All the workshops are in German!

The "She for Democracy" campaign aims to motivate women with different experiences, backgrounds and political opinions to help shape local politics in Dortmund or in other municipalities. After all, women are still underrepresented in politics. Over a period of seven months, women are given the opportunity to get to know the political structures in Dortmund, talk to experienced women from Dortmund's parliamentary groups, network and strengthen their own personal skills in various workshops. They are also encouraged to contribute their knowledge to local politics and play an active role in shaping the future of their city.
The campaign is organized by the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Dortmund in cooperation with the Equal Opportunities Offices of TU Dortmund University and Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Further information on the campaign, the dates and registration can be found on our project page and on the website of the Equal Opportunities Office of the City of Dortmund.
