The MinTU student mentoring program continues digitally. The mechanical engineering workshop took place online on April 9. The Department of Machine Elements worked together with over 30 female students from the current MinTU cohort.

Senior engineer Dr. Ulrike Willms and several women from her team showed the participants various paths to and with mechanical engineering in the workshop. They were supported by Dr. Irene Szymanski from the General Student Advisory Service, who introduced the schoolgirls to the SchülerUni and other exciting offers from TU Dortmund University for study and career orientation.

The girls had been sent information, technical drawings and individualized key fobs from the 3D printer in advance so that they could draw live with the material in the workshop and assemble the individual parts of the fob. They talked shop together about gears in everyday life, torques and lever arms. At the end of the day, the participants had gained a practical gimmick and a lot of knowledge.

The University Communications department also reported on the workshop.
