The Central Counselling Centre for Protection against Discrimination and Sexualized Violence (SchuDS for short) opened at TU Dortmund University on the first of September. The two employees of the advice center are Nicole Jansen and Kaya Gödeke. They are the contact persons for all persons affected by discrimination at TU Dortmund University - both students and employees or other members of TU Dortmund University. However, SchuDS is not only intended to serve as a point of contact for those affected, but also to carry out prevention work at the TU.

What should I do if someone treats me dismissively because of my sexual orientation, my gender, my ethnicity or for any other reason? What if a superior behaves in a way that violates my boundaries? What options do I have? And do I even want to take further steps?

Kaya Gödeke and Nicole Jansen at the central advice center SchuDS can help with these questions. They can serve as an initial point of contact to talk about experiences. "You don't necessarily have to take further action if you don't want to," explains Nicole Jansen. Kaya Gödeke and Nicole Jansen show those affected what help is available and work with them to find solutions, but never act against the wishes of the person seeking advice. In addition, under Section 13 of the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG), it is possible to report an incident to the AGG complaints office at TU Dortmund University. Affected persons who decide to enter into such a complaint procedure can be accompanied by the staff of the central advice center SchuDS.
