Das Autorenduo HERR&SPEER (links) traf bei Butler, Butch, Beyoncé auf Soziologin Prof. Dr. Jutta Allmendinger und diskutierte mit ihr über Männer, die sich feministisch engagieren.

Prof. Dr. Jutta Allmendinger (sociologist and President of the Social Science Research Center Berlin) discussed with the authors Vincent Herr and Martin Speer (Ambassador #HeForShe) the feminist commitment of men, images of masculinity in work and everyday life and male privileges.

More and more men are calling themselves feminists. They are publicly speaking out in favor of gender equality and calling on other men to do the same. The last online edition of the talk series "Butler.Butch.Beyoncé" on July 19, 2021 is dedicated to the ambivalent relationship between men and feminism - and vice versa: Is there (still) a contradiction between being a man and feminism? Where do feminist struggles benefit from male growth and can it also harm them? Where do feminists locate themselves within the diverse feminist movements, what demands do they share and what issues are on their agenda? And how do feminists understand their role within feminist movements?

Prof. Dr. Jutta Allmendinger has been President of the Social Science Research Center Berlin since 2007 and Professor of Sociology of Education and Labour Market Research at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Her research focuses on the sociology of the labor market and the question of how life courses are shaped by institutions, the labor market or the relationship between women and men. In this context, she also deals with questions of gender equality and the division of tasks and labor between the sexes. Jutta Allmendinger is a member of numerous advisory and political bodies, including Member of the editorial board of the weekly newspaper DIE ZEIT. She was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit First Class and the Communicator Prize of the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft.
