Location & approach

By public transportation (S-Bahn, H-Bahn, bus)

You can reach the North Campus of TU Dortmund University by taking the S1, the H-Bahn or the various city buses (445, 447, 462, 465, NE8).

Coming from the S-Bahn stop “Dortmund Universität” or the H-Bahn stop “DO-Universität S”, walk up the stairs, past the glass university library and cross the bridge that leads to the orange canteen building.
The bus stops “Dortmund Universität” are located under the bridge, you can reach them via various stairs.
The H-Bahn stop “Campus Nord” is located directly on the bridge.

From the Mensa bridge, walk in the direction of the Mensa building and continue past the Mathetower with the green TU logo on the roof to Martin-Schmeißer-Platz. Cross the square and walk up the stairs. When you turn right at the advertising pillar, you will already see the large house number Emil-Figge-Straße 66. Use the entrance marked G1, the rooms of the Equal Opportunities Office are located on the first floor on the right.

With car

From the direction of Essen (Bochum, Dortmund West interchange):

From the A40, take the Dortmund Dorstfeld exit (43). Turn left onto Hauert and then left again onto Emil-Figge-Straße.

You can use the parking lots at entrances 9, 10 or 12 and walk from the back to building G1.

Alternatively, turn right at the traffic lights onto Vogelpothsweg and use the parking lot at entrance 21. You can then reach our offices on foot via the same route as described under “By public transport”.

From the direction of Dortmund (Unna, Kamener Kreuz):

From the A40, take the Dortmund-Barop exit (44) and then turn directly left. Drive to the traffic circle and take the first exit onto Emil-Figge-Straße.

You can use the parking lot at entrance 21. Turn left at the traffic lights onto Vogelpothsweg. You can then reach our offices on foot via the same route as described under “By public transport”.

Alternatively, you can use the parking lots at entrances 9, 10 or 12 and walk to building G1 from the back. Continue straight ahead at the traffic lights on Emil-Figge-Straße; the parking spaces are on the left-hand side.

UA Ruhr launches the "Diversity & Gender" certificate in the winter semester

The Diversity and Gender certificate is offered jointly by Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University and the University of Duisburg-Essen. Students from all three universities have the opportunity to take an in-depth look at issues of diversity, social justice and power relations. The aim is to promote a well-founded, interdisciplinary and practical examination of diversity and gender-related topics in order to strengthen a discrimination-sensitive attitude in studies, work and society in the long term.

In a world that is becoming increasingly complex, it is important to stand up for respectful interaction and against all forms of contempt for humanity and anti-democracy. This is precisely where the Diversity and Gender certificate comes in and aims to enable students to take a critical look at discrimination and power and to reflect on their own social positioning.

From the basics to practice: 15 credit points in three modules

The certificate comprises 15 CP, which can be earned in three modules. The introductory module will be offered for the first time in the winter semester 2025/2026. It comprises two block courses and four online sessions. A total of 15 TU Dortmund University students can take part in the foundation module in this first run. No prior knowledge of the subject is required. What is expected is a willingness to critically examine social power relations and an interest in interdisciplinary work. Students from all disciplines are invited to take the module.

Registration is possible until October 10, 2025.

Registration

From the summer semester onwards, further creditable courses can be taken at TU Dortmund University, Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Duisburg-Essen for the advanced module, in which the skills and knowledge are to be deepened. A practical module deals with diversity and social inequality in specific fields of action.
