Former Women's & Equal Opportunities Officer
TU Dortmund University can look back on a long list of committed women who have worked hard to promote gender equality.
The beginnings
The first team of elected women's representatives took office at the University of Dortmund in 1989. Prof. Sybille Volkmann-Raue, Birgit Frielinghaus, Michaela Basner and Doris Reich (from left to right) represented the interests of women of all status groups.
In an interview on the 30th anniversary of her election, Doris Reich talks about the beginnings.
When the NRW State Equal Opportunities Act came into force in 1999, the rights and duties of the commissioners were more clearly defined. At the same time, their title changed from "Women's Representative" to "Equal Opportunities Representative".
