About the Office of the Central Gender Equalities Officer

The central Equal Opportunities Officer supports TU Dortmund University in its legal mandate to promote the actual implementation of equal rights for women and men. In doing so, she takes all genders into account and ensures in particular that structural discrimination against women is reduced.

In particular, the Central Gender Equality Officer works towards the inclusion of gender equality-relevant aspects in academic, administrative and technical work, in development planning, in personnel and structural measures and in the performance-related allocation of funds. She ensures that the university considers gender-specific effects in all proposals and decisions (gender mainstreaming).

In order to carry out her duties, the Central Gender Equality Officer can attend committee meetings - e.g. meetings of the University Council, the Rectorate or the Senate, as well as faculty councils and appointment committees. She has the right to make motions and speak there and must be invited and informed in the same way as a member.

In addition, it carries out projects together with the staff of the Equal Opportunities Office to fulfill its duties. You can find more information about the tasks of the Equal Opportunities Office staff in the 2016 work report and on our team page.

You can find out more about the legal basis on which the Central Equal Opportunities Officer works on the corresponding topic page"Legal basis of equal opportunities work".

"All female members of the university are eligible for election. (Section 24 (2) HG)

Further information on the election of the Equal Opportunities Officer can be found in the Basic Regulations of TU Dortmund University (as of March 31, 2021, § 8, para. 2).
