Almost 50 schoolgirls start a new STEM mentoring year with eight female students

On January 25, 2018, Jill Timmreck, MinTU project coordinator, kicked off the new MinTU year for a total of 48 female students in the Rudolf Chaudoire Pavilion. At the kick-off event, mentees and mentors had time to get to know each other and share their expectations and wishes for the program. A year full of events lies ahead of them, at the end of which a certificate will be awarded.

MinTU is aimed at girls aged 12 to 14 from all types of schools who are interested in STEM subjects. Over the course of an entire year, they meet regularly with their mentors, who are themselves STEM students at TU Dortmund University. The female role models are intended to make it easier for the girls to access computer science, engineering, physics and other subjects. The mentors show the students what life is like on campus and accompany them to eight workshops offered by the departments at TU Dortmund University. There are also regular meetings in small groups off campus.
